Bloody Canvas

Installation

2023

In this installation, I used a circular canvas with holes and grooves, suspended from the ceiling. Red acrylic paint drips through the surface and stains the floor below. I built the canvas with Styrofoam and raw fabric to question traditional painting and explore alternative materials and structures.

The circular form and dripping red paint move the work beyond a conventional painting into an installation. The red suggests violence, war, and execution—especially connected to my home country. Instead of depicting violence directly, the canvas itself appears to bleed, reflecting ongoing pain and instability.

In the future, I would like to deepen the grooves and expand the scale, possibly creating a continuous dripping system for exhibition spaces.
