Devoured from Within

Performance

1 minute

This work was a combination of performance and sculpture. I created a metal spider and wrapped my own body in bandages. The spider represents the mind when negative thoughts are left uncontrolled. If we fail to confront them, they can grow and transform into something predatory, like a spider that traps you in its web and slowly consumes you.

In that state, you feel immobilized. You feel as though nothing can be done. You are no longer in control; you are devoured, becoming the prey of your own thoughts.

The metal material emphasizes rigidity and permanence, while the wrapped body suggests vulnerability, injury, and psychological entrapment. The work reflects on the fragile boundary between awareness and surrender — the moment when the mind turns against itself and the individual becomes consumed by their internal darkness.
