I Wish
Performance
1 Minute
“I Wish” explores the tension between imagination and inaction. The work reflects the many creative ideas I carried throughout the semester but did not fully realize.
The installation combines video and performance. A black-and-white video of me sculpting and drawing is projected onto a gray box that represents my mind. The monochrome imagery suggests these actions exist only in thought, while the box resembles a cage, symbolizing imprisoned ideas that cannot become reality.
In the performance, I sit on the same chair, wearing the same clothes, with my hands and feet tied. Unlike the active figure in the video, my body remains still—trapped in overthinking. When the projection ends, my head falls forward, marking the collapse of action. The work reflects the exhaustion that comes when imagination is not followed by movement.
